Rajkot: A liquor cache worth Rs 24 lakh containing 10,952 bottles of Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL) was seized and 11 bootleggers arrested near Moladi village of Chotila taluka of Surendrangar on Rajkot-Ahmedabad Highway on Thursday morning.
The liquor was stored inside a truck. When police raided the spot, the bootleggers were offloading liquor bottles to load them on to three cars, including a utility vehicle. Police seized the liquor supply and arrested the accused.
The arrested bootleggers have been identified as Bharat Dumadia alias Rajani (28) and his brother Hemant Dumadia (31), both residents of Kheradi village in Chotila taluka; Bahadur Dabhi (30), a resident of Kabran village of Chotila taluka; Bharat Khorani (23), a resident of Khorana village in Chotila; Vaju Gangadia (23), a resident of Jhinjhuda village of Chotila; truck driver Shambhusinh Rathod (50), a resident of Pokhran village in Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan; Haresh Chawda (43), Jagdish Dav and Mukesh Dangar, all residents of Rampark near Aji Dam Chowkdi in Rajkot; Nagraj Dhandhal, a resident of Nagalpar village of Botad taluka, and Ranjit Khachar, a resident of Sayada village in Botad taluka.
“Two accused are yet to be arrested,” sub-inspector Kunal Patel of Rajkot rapid response cell said.
