Britain's Post-Brexit Passports Will be Made In France

There’s a controversy brewing over the U.K.’s new passports being produced in France.????The Conservative Party confirmed the blue passports will be introduced in 2019 in the wake of Brexit… returning to their original color.????But with Britain leaving the European Union, not everyone thinks having them made in the EU makes sense…????Considering The BBC reports the deal is worth 490 million pounds — or around $693 million.????Gemalto — a firm headquartered in Paris — beat out UK supplier De La Rue, which produces the current burgundy ones.?? ??The deal found detractors of all political backgrounds, including Priti Patel, a former cabinet minister in favor of Brexit and Labour MP John Spellar.????According to Newsweek, a spokesperson for the Liberal Democrat party, which supported remaining in the EU, called the situation a farce and noted:????“And to add insult to injury, we will pay over the odds for them because the value of the pound has fallen since Brexit and they will have to be imported.”
