11 kids hurt after school auto rams into GSRTC bus

Surat: Eleven schoolchildren below the age of 10 years and the 54-year-old driver of their school auto were injured when their auto rammed into a GSRTC bus from behind on Surat Navsari Road near Kapletha village on Thursday.

Auto driver Haroon Gulam Hussain Abovat, a resident of Kapletha village, who suffered serious injuries on his face, was admitted to a hospital. The autorickshaw crashed into the GSRTC bus when it stopped to pick up some passengers.


There were 11 students of M D English Medium School from kindergarten to class V in the auto and all suffered injuries, but three had grievous wounds. The three seriously injured students were admitted to different private hospitals.


“We are yet to register statement of the autorickshaw driver. He is not in a condition to speak due to facial injuries. Some students suffered injuries on face and one had wounded his jaws in the accident. All the students are out of danger,” the police said.
