The services and infrastructure facilities provided by the FICCI-FLO under the ‘Adarsh Gram Yojana’ project at Venkatapuram village panchayat near Singaperumal Kovil in Kancheepuram district was lauded by the officials and villagers at a function held at Thelimedu on Wednesday.
V. Jayakumar, Project Officer, District Rural Development Agency, commended the involvement shown by the members of FICCI-FLO in implementing various projects in the panchayat. Two Class X students, who scored over 400 marks in the public examination, had benefited from the projects.
The organisation had spent more than ₹60 lakh in the past two years to implement projects in education, school infrastructure development, health and sanitation sectors in the village, he said.
FICCI-FLO chairperson Sudha Sivakumar said that around 75 toilets, including toilets in schools, were constructed; three schools were refurbished and four tuition centres were set up for the benefit of students in the Venkatapuram village panchayat, apart from conducting regular health camps. A solid waste management unit has been set up on a school premises to inculcate source segregation habit among children.
