‘Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’ Possibly Leaked by Voice Actor

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 may have just been leaked by Lieutenant Gaz voice actor Craig Fairbrass. Discovered Wednesday afternoon by CharlieINTEL, Fairbrass referenced his work on “Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 1/2/3/4” in his Twitter profile. The problem being, of course, that Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 has not been officially announced.

When probed by fans about the suspicious mention, Fairbrass called the outcry a “bit of confusion and overreaction.” “I’ve always had the five COD games I’ve worked on in my mini bio on Twitter,” he tweeted, “any clarification need just look on IMDB.” Glancing at that page, we see that Fairbrass worked on Modern Warfare Remastered and Infinite Warfare in addition to the three Modern Warfare games. In other words, he’s likely suggesting that mentions of Modern Warfare 4 relate to Modern Warfare Remastered.

Despite the clarification, Fairbrass has since removed all traces of the suspected Modern Warfare 4 leak from his Twitter bio.

So, with the evidence now gone, questions remain over what exactly happened here. Fairbrass’ explanation seems plausible enough, but voice actors do occasionally slip up and discuss developing game projects before they're supposed to. In fact, the first concrete evidence of the Black Ops III Zombies Chronicles DLC originated from an Instagram post composed by Edward Richtofen’s Brazilian voice actor, Luiz Carlos Gomez. Might we be looking at a similar scenario here?

It doesn’t seem too far outside the realm of possibility. If voice calls for Modern Warfare 4 are truly underway, we imagine they relate to Infinity Ward’s next game set to release in 2019. The Modern Warfare mantel was passed to Sledgehammer Games in 2011, but it’s worth remembering that Infinity Ward developed the first two titles. Especially following the lukewarm receptions to IW’s future-focused Infinite Warfare and Ghosts, it’d make sense for the studio to win back players with a sub-series that’s truly adored.

The idea of a fourth Modern Warfare game was even reinforced by former Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg in an interview with Newsweek this past November. When asked to comment on the future of the franchise, he said “we have proven sub-franchises, time periods and areas to play in that I think give us a lot of variety.” Modern Warfare has absolutely proven itself as a successful brand in the past.

Before these rumors can become reality, Treyarch must fully reveal 2018’s title, Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4. That project has been confirmed with a deeper dive into gameplay set to take place in May.
