Job Description:
Sourcing projects (30%)
• Scan the environment for new funding opportunities
• Develop relationship with grant making organizations such as philanthropic foundations, international funding agencies, and multilateral donors
• Propose new research ideas and brainstorm research proposals with faculty affiliated to the Institute at the intersection of their research interests and the institute’s focus themes
• Engage and secure faculty commitment to applied projects
• Lead proposal building in consultation with Faculty Principal Investigator
• Lead the end-to-end process of developing proposal, bidding for RFPs

Project Execution (40%)
• Execute applied research projects in a timely and satisfactory manner in consultation with Faculty Principal Investigator and faculty working on the project
• Develop and execute timelines, action items, and equipment needed to complete applied research projects
• Lead the tool and protocol development to ensure surveys are delivered on time including optimizing the survey instrument for data gathering in the field, overseeing the data survey agencies and software testing
• Recommend enhancements to methodology and protocol of the study
• Perform regular audits of data collection process and quality according to research standards and requirements
• Monitor research subjects and environments, providing written record of significant events that transpire during research activities
• Responsible for ensuring that all onsite applied research activities are executed with fidelity

Writing (20%)
• Write a variety of articles based on research findings for academics (journal articles) as well as non-academics (white papers, reports, opinion and editorial pieces)

Research Staff Management (10%)
• Recruit analysts / research associates from within the system and where required from outside to fulfill project requirements
• Develop and maintain research activity calendar, including tracking research analysts shifts and anticipating setbacks to plan accordingly
• Develop and train RAs on data cleaning and analysis, and communicating data insights
• Supervise analysts in their routine work and ensure smooth delivery of various research outputs
• Provide ongoing coaching and extensive protocol training to field research assistants to ensure high quality performance
