German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier will arrive in New Delhi today on a five-day visit to India. This will be his first visit to India as the President of Germany.

During his visit, the German President will be accompanied by a delegation of CEOs, Indologists and media persons. He will visit Varanasi today.

Dr Steinmeier will hold meetings with President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will also call on the visiting dignitary. The German President is also scheduled to attend a business event in New Delhi and visit to Chennai.

India-Germany bilateral economic cooperation has been robust. Germany is India’s largest trading partner in Europe and the 6th largest trading partner in the world.
