Rajkot: Three persons, including two government officials and a contractor, were booked on Thursday by Gandhidham anti-corruption bureau (ACB) for allegedly siphoning off government funds meant for digging a farm pond.

The ACB officials said Ishwarlal Adalja and Rajendra Yogi, both class III officers of water conservation department, and a contractor Ramji Solanki of Bhimasar village in Rapar taluka of Kutch had siphoned off Rs 2 lakh.

“The accused had put the project with the map of the pond only on papers, produced bills and taken the money from water conservation department. The department got suspicious and approached us with the application for two ponds in Bhimasar village. It was then that we decided to investigate the facts and found that the ponds were only on papers, following which we booked the trio,” ACB inspector K H Gohel said.

“The scope of the scam may widen as more such frauds are likely to come to light in Rapar taluka,” Gohel added.
