HENRY E. VINCIK
Springville

Henry E. Vincik, 96, of Springville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at the Ed and Joan Hemphill Hospice Unit in St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. The family will greet friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 31, at Springville Presbyterian Church, Springville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 31, at the church. Burial: Springville Cemetery, Springville.
Henry was born Dec. 18, 1921, in St. Paul, Neb., the son of Edward and Katherine (Halla) Vincik. He married Janet Gerry on Feb. 25, 1945, in St. Paul. Henry served in the U.S. Navy as a motor machinist on the USS Denebola during World War II. He was a farmer most of his life. Henry served as a Linn Co-op director, Springville Co-op telephone director, Brown Township trustee, a member of Springville American Legion Post 331 and a member of Springville Presbyterian Church, where he served as trustee and elder. He was an avid reader, and farming was his life. Henry loved his family and friends "a lot."
He is survived by his sister, Kathryn Peters of Monticello; children, Susan E. Cooper of Springville, William H. Vincik of Springville, Nancy M. (Mel) Mysak of Center Junction, Dorothy A. (Dr. Stephen) Stewart of Lake Ozark, Mo., and Richard A. Vincik of Whitehall, Mont.; six grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janet; sister, Goldie Peters; and adoptive brother, Mike Jacobs.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Henry's name may be directed to Springville American Legion Post 331, Camp Courageous or Springville Presbyterian Church.
