Dehradun Mahanagar City Bus Service Federation president Vijay Vardhan accused the city police of harassing the owners of the passenger carrying vehicles by indiscriminately slapping challans on count of overloading.
He said on Wednesday that he had sought information about the GO by which the city police can slap challan on passenger carrying vehicles from the State Government. “As far our knowledge goes, no GO has been released regarding the same by the state government so far. This means that the traffic police and the City Patrol Unit are slapping challans sans any sanction of law,” he said.
He further said that they were disturbed over the police slapping more by way of penalties on the public carrying vehicles than on the heavy vehicles for overloading. “This is unjust,” he added.
