Kellyanne Conway Tells Students to Eat Ice Cream and Fries Rather than Take Deadly Drug Fentanyl
Kellyanne Conway has come up with some unique advice for millennials who maybe considering taking the deadly drug fentanyl: eat ice cream and French fries but leave the opioid alone. Conway, a counsel to the president, is in charge of overseeing the White House’s efforts to tackle the country’s opioid crisis.
Conway first explained the dangers of fentanyl, an opioid that has a potency 50 times the of heroin and 100 times that of morphine, before speaking directly to a group of college students as the White House hosted the youth forum Generation Next on Thursday.
“On our college campuses, you folks are reading the labels, they won’t put any sugar in their body, they won’t eat carbs anymore, and they’re very, very fastidious about what goes into their body,” Conway said. “And then you buy a street drug for $5 or $10, it’s laced with fentanyl and that’s it,”
“So my short advice is, eat the ice cream, have the French fry, don’t buy the street drug—believe me, it all works out,” Conway added.
Conway has faced criticism since being announced as the White House’s opioid “czar” last November despite having no previous experience in public health.
Trump has repeatedly talked up the seriousness of the opioid crisis, which was responsible for the deaths of close to 60,000 Americans in 2016. Earlier this week, he unveiled his plan to tackle the crisis, which included $6 billion from Congress as well as proposing enforcing the death penalty for some drug dealers.

“If we don't get tough on the drug dealers, we are wasting our time,” Trump said during a speech in New Hampshire on Monday.
However, he could face widespread opposition to his proposal. Almost three-quarters of Americans oppose the death penalty for those convicted of selling drugs that led to a fatal overdose, including more than half of Americans.
