Ambedkar law varsity gets new V-C

Tamma Suryanaryana Sastry, a former professor of Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University (TNDALU), has been appointed its Vice-Chancellor. He is currently professor of law at the Savitribai Phule Pune University.

He will have a tenure of three years from the date of his assumption of office, according to a release from the Raj Bhavan.

Mr. Tamma Suryanaryana Sastry has authored 60 research publications and four books on law.

He has 29 years of experience in the academic profession.

Short-listed candidates

Mr. Sastry was among the three short-listed candidates who were interviewed on Wednesday by Governor Banwarilal Purohit, Chancellor of the TNDALU.

Mr. Sastry served as professor for three years between March 2006 and April 2009 at the TNDALU after serving as lecturer and reader at Pondicherry University from 1988 to 2006.

According to his resume, his interests include international law, human rights, private international law, international economic law, research methodology in law, constitutional law, IPR and global justice.
