Tirupur:
Three people,
including a married couple, were killed after a truck crashed into a car while they were near Vellakoil here on Thursday.
The couple was identified as 48-year-old K Ramachandran and his 44-year-old wife Jeyalakshmi. “Ramachandran hailed from Thuvarankuruchi in Trichy district and was running a medical shop in Hasan district of Karnataka. The couple had come to attend a function in Trichy in a car. Thirty-year-old Praveen, a driver, was also with them,” a police officer said.
Ramachandran was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident. “While the vehicle was passing through Velakavundanpalayam, it was hit by a lorry carrying rice, which was coming from the opposite direction,” the officer said.
The trio died on the spot. Vellakoil police have registered a case and are investigating.
