Howard has 32 points, 30 rebounds in Hornets’ win

Dwight Howard came up with a powerful performance to hand the Charlotte Hornets a stunning 111-105 victory over the Brooklyn Nets.

With 32 points and 30 rebounds in the game, Howard had the NBA’s first 30-30 performance since Kevin Love did it in 2010. The most recent 30-30 performance before Love’s was by Moses Malone and that came in 1982.

Boult, Southee blow England to pieces

England were staring at the prospect of registering the lowest total in Test cricket before eventually managing 58, their sixth lowest total, in the first day-night Test at New Zealand.

Trent Boult, with career-best figures of six for 32, and Southee, who finished with four for 25, did all the damage on day one in the first of a two-match Test series.

The hosts finished the day with a lead of 117 runs, as captain Kane Williamson’s unbeaten 91 pushed their score to 175 for three.

Naomi Osaka proved to be too hot for the returning Serena Williams as the recently crowned Indian Wells champion registered a 6-3, 6-2 first-round win. The match was only Williams’ fourth since returning from a 13-month maternity break.
