MIAMI: Tennis champion Serena William was thrashed away by Japan’s Naomi Osaka on Wednesday in the first round of Miami Open tournament in the straight sets.

Osaka showed her terrific side on Wednesday by winning game 6-3, 6-2 in just one hour and 17 minutes.

After Serena William’s comeback, it was her fourth match and second tournament. Earlier, she took break from the game as she was pregnant.

The beat was the initial time Serena Williams has mislaid her initial game at an American hard court tournament for 21 years.

During straight sets in Indian Wells tournament, Serena Williams reached to round three where she lost the game against her sister Venus.

Serena Williams said, “Every competition is a chance for me to better understand the areas I need to enhance to be my best.

She added, “Naomi played a wonderful game and I look forward to continuing my comeback by progressing each day.

Tennis player Osaka was striking the ball wonderfully and took a lead in the first set very easily.

In the second set, Osaka hit once again to clinch 3-1 score against Williams. She took this game to her side by striking trouble-free shot.

“I think she was sad that it ended like that” Osaka stated.
