Man Utd and Chelsea given Toby Alderweireld boost as Tottenham make transfer pledge
MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly been given hope in their bid to snaffle Tottenham star Toby Alderweireld.
The centre-half has been in a stand-off with Tottenham over a new deal.
The Belgian wants to pocket a big pay rise, however Spurs are unlikely to change their rigid wage structure.
As things stand, the Belgian has a £25million buyout clause in his contract which could see him leave in the summer unless there is a major breakthrough in negotiations over a new deal.
Jose Mourinho is eager to embark on another spending spree as he seeks to build a squad capable of challenging Manchester City for the Premier League title next term.

A centre-half has been identified as a priority, with Alderweireld being monitored.
Chelsea, recent reports have suggested, are prepared to offer the 29-year-old deal a whopping £150,000-a-week deal to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
And now according to the Daily Mail, Pochettino accepts that Alderweireld wants to move on.

It is said the Argentine boss only wants players at the club who are fully committed to the cause and he won’t block a move.
The Mail also claim that Daniel Levy will have the final say on Alderweireld’s future.
Spurs may also have to fend off United for Danny Rose, who Mourinho wants to sign in exchange for Luke Shaw.
