Idrissa Gueye could miss Everton ’s big games with Manchester City and Liverpool through injury - according to his international manager.

The midfielder might be out for three weeks after reporting to the Senegal squad with a ‘muscle tear’.

Gueye completed 90 minutes in the win at Stoke last weekend but has now been sent back to England after his national boss Aliou Cisse assessed his fitness.

“My squad is almost complete, but Gana had a muscle tear when he came over,” he reportedly said. “I had wanted him to be in my team, but I think he will be out for three weeks.

“I wanted him to come over with the rest of his national teammates, so we could assess his injury. He was able to do so.”

If Cisse’s claims are correct, then the 28-year-old will miss Senegal’s World Cup warm-up friendlies against Uzbekistan and Bosnia report the Liverpool Echo .

More importantly for Everton, a three-week absence would also ensure his absence for the upcoming home fixtures with City and Liverpool.

Gueye recently missed the home win over Brighton through illness, having previously started five successive games under Sam Allardyce .
