Told to avoid foul language, group attacks police sub inspector

SURAT: A police sub-inspector of city police was thrashed by some unidentified persons on Wednesday night in Amroli area with sticks after he asked some people to avoid using abusive words while talking. The cop was having dinner at a restaurant and was not in uniform when he was attacked.

K D Raval, a police sub inspector of city police currently posted at Surat airport, was thrashed by a group of around seven persons with sticks on Wednesday night.


Police registered an offence of attempt to murder against the group of unidentified persons in Amroli police station.


Raval, who live in Mota Varachha area, went to Radhe Krishna Kathiawadi Restaurant for dinner. He was having food when some people sitting next to his table were using abusive language in the restaurant. He told them to avoid using abusive language in a public place after which the group started argument. The group of men left the restaurant only to return with sticks and blunt wooden objects.


Returning to the restaurant in few minutes the accused started thrashing the victim. Raval told the accused that he is a police officer but the attackers continued thrashing him and injured him all over. It is third such incident of assault on cops reported in city within a short span.
