The Environment Ministry has reviewed the mitigation measures to combat air pollution in Delhi and its adjoining areas.
It directed the concerned agencies to ensure that dust mitigation steps are taken at their construction sites.
The Ministry has asked PWD, DDA, Delhi Metro and the National Highways Authority of India to take effective steps in this regard. In a press release, the ministry said action will be taken against the defaulting officials of the agencies.
The Ministry suggested that DDA and MCD should prepare a list of approved dumping sites and ensure that dumping of Construction and Demolition waste takes place only at such sites.
MCD has formulated plans for procurement of water tankers. It was decided that water sprinklers should be deployed in roads where mechanized sweeping is not possible.
The review meeting was chaired by Secretary, Ministry for Environment C.K Mishra.
