Market Update: CNX realty outperforms led by Oberoi Realty; Bharti Airtel jumps 3%, RIL, Tata Steel most active

The market breadth was in favour of the advances with 901 stocks advancing while 772 declined and 350 remained unchanged. On the other hand, in the BSE, 1373 stocks advanced and 1218 declined and 152 remained unchanged.

February 2, 2018: Benchmark indices witnessed the steepest single-day fall in more than a year on Friday as stricter tax rules for stock investments and the easing of fiscal deficit targets unnerved investors. The Sensex plunged about 840 points, or 2.3 percent to close at 35,06.
February 2, 2018: Benchmark indices witnessed the steepest single-day fall in more than a year on Friday as stricter tax rules for stock investments and the easing of fiscal deficit targets unnerved investors. The Sensex plunged about 840 points, or 2.3 percent to close at 35,06.

The Indian markets on Wednesday afternoon were trading on a positive note but ate away some of the morning gains with the Nifty adding 38 points or 0.38 percent  while the Sensex was up 164 points.

CNX Realty was up 1 percent led by Oberoi Realty which jumped 6 percent while Indiabulls Real Estate gained 3 percent. Godrej Properties and Unitech were the other gainers.

The top Nifty gainers included Bharti Airtel which jumped 3.8 percent while NTPC and Bajaj Finance added over 2 percent each. Cipla and UltraTech Cement were the other gainers..

The top Nifty losers included Tata Steel, Eicher Motors, Tata Motors, Bosch and Tech Mahindra which fell over 1 percent each in the afternoon trade..

The most active Nifty stocks included Tata Steel, Reliance Industries, TCS, HDFC and State Bank of India.

Indiabulls Ventures zoomed 20 percent while Balrampur Chini spiked close to 10 percent. Oberoi Realty, Radico Khaitan and  BEML were the other top Sensex gainers.

Future Lifestyle, Mastek and KPIT Tech were three of the few stocks that hit new 52-week high while 58 stocks hit 52-week low including names like Gitanjali Gems, HCC, IOC and Gammon Infra.
