Tribals cultivating podu lands will not get the benefit of ₹ 4,000 crop input subsidy that the government plans to give from this year.
Replying to a question raised by BJP member N. Ramachandra Rao in the Legislative Council on Tuesday, Revenue Minister Mahmood Ali said the government has no intention to provide the input subsidy to such farmers. Moreover, the details of such farmers have not been entered in the Revenue Records.
He said podu lands cannot be entered into Revenue Records as it was difficult to transfer the lands to the farmers due to the provisions under the Forest (Conservation) Act 1980.
