Winton Country Club names new manager named for food, events

Winton Country Club and Golf Course has announced the hiring of Joy Miranda Combs as its Events and Food and Beverage Manager.

Combs previously was an owner of Lola’s Restaurant on South Main Street in Amherst, which closed in late 2017 after more than a year in business.

“It is anticipated that Winton will greatly benefit from Miranda’s huge following and her expertise as a successful business owner, caterer and events planner,” a news release from the organization said.  

In addition to bringing in weddings and large events to Winton and planning and organizing events, she will oversee the management of the food and beverage operation and staff. Combs lives in Amherst County and has lived and worked in the restaurant business in St. Simons Island, Georgia.

Anyone interested in scheduling a large event or wedding at Winton can email Combs at events@wintoncountryclub.com. The club said brunches will return and urges visitors to look for Friday night specials. The club is open to the public.
