Mystery message to MLC Pradeep Shettar asks him to join terrorism

Hubballi: MLC Pradeep Shettar claims that he received threat messages from the mobile of an unknown person, urging him to support terrorism.
The message reads: “Join hands with terrorism, Osma Bin laden our god” (sic). He received this message on Sunday, and brought it to the notice of the police commissioner on Wednesday. He submitted a memorandum seeking an inquiry into the issue and protection to his life.

Pradeep told TOI: “It is an attempt to prevent him from touring the districts to strengthen the party and seek votes for my brother Jagadish Shettar. When I was contesting the MLC election too, I had received threat messages. As I am busy campaigning for my brother and the party, some miscreants are trying to intimidate me by sending such messages.”

“I got this message on Sunday. On the advice of my followers and party leaders, I brought it to the notice of the police commissioner, seeking action. When I cross-checked this number from Truecaller ID, it doesn’t display the name of the user, but only as ‘Idea’. It might be the handiwork of a local goon to threaten me. But I don’t care for such threats and will continue to work hard for the party,” Pradeep said.

It may be recalled that minister Vinay Kulkarni, MP Pralhad Joshi and MLC Basavaraj Horatti had received threat letters from unknown persons and brought them to notice of the police a few months ago. Police have not yet achieved a breakthrough in these cases.

Police commissioner M N Nagaraj said they had taken Pradeep Shettar’s complaint. DCP Renuka Sukumar is investigating the case.

We are also investigating cases pertaining to the threat notes to MP Joshi and MLC Horatti. We questioned some suspects in these cases and will soon solve the cases, the commissioner said.
