Dharwad: Former Gadag MLA and
Congress leader
D R Patil sprang a surprise on Wednesday as he heaped praises on Hubballi-Dharwad West MLA
Arvind Bellad, who represents the
BJP, for taking up pro-poor projects in the constituency.
Accompanying Siddeshwar Swami of Jnanayogashrama, Vijayapura, D R Patil visited the group housing complex constructed under the “House for All” scheme with initiation from Bellad. Impressed by the work, he said that Bellad had done a good job and he will have the blessings of the poor. “Bellad will be re-elected and our Congress party will be short by one seat,” Patil said.
Known for his upright stance and behavior, D R Patil, who is the cousin of RDPR minister H K Patil, said that politicians should come out of the illusionary world and be pro-people and work with humility. Bellad has done that and hence his re-election is a foregone conclusion, he stated.
Siddeshara Swami also expressed his pleasure at the scheme being implemented with sincerity.
Bellad said it was the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure shelter for every poor person in the country by 2022. In an effort in realizing the dream, 2,500 houses are being constructed in Hubballi-Dharwad at a cost of Rs 125 crore, he said.
“The houses have been constructed in a short span with Korean technology without using bricks and without compromising on the quality. The beneficiaries have been selected by the Slum Board and the houses will be handed over to them in the next eight months,” Bellad informed.
The complex will also have other infrastructure like concrete roads, gas pipeline, STP unit, solar energy, garden and community hall. There will also be commercial complex, housing grocery shops and hair salon.
