Belagavi: Members of the
Jain community, under the banner of Bhagwan Mahaveer Janma Kalyanak Madhyavarthi Utsav Committee, staged a protest in front of deputy commissioner’s office here on Tuesday to condemn the stone-pelting on a
Jain seer at
Kudachi town in
Raibag taluk recently.
Though the culprits have been arrested, the sentiments of the community have been hurt, said the Committee. The seer sustained severe injuries in the attack on March 17.
Condemning the incident, the Committee urged the authorities to provide police protection to Jain seers during their travel to Belagavi. It submitted a memorandum to the district authority in this regard.
