Ben Stokes’ return to England’s Test team will give a “huge boost” to the side, says captain Joe Root.

Stokes is set to return in the first Test against New Zealand which is due to get underway.

Stokes has not played for the Test team since September, after an incident outside a nightclub.

Due to the incident, Stokes missed England’s 4-0 Ashes loss.

New Zealand, perhaps the least high-profile tour of the lot, is the perfect setting for Stokes to return to Test cricket after his recent off-field troubles.
