There has been a big debate about the gold exchange, gold policy. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley did announce in the Budget about gold being treated as an asset class quite soon.

Ruth Crowell, CEO at London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) discusses with Manisha Gupta about what can India see as a global learning and what do we need to do first to ensure that we do treat gold as an asset class.

Speaking about the Indian gold industry Crowell said, 'There are so many entities involved, there are so many associations -- it is very difficult for someone coming in to try to say who we deal with. The idea of gold board is very exciting because it does focus industry, but also government attention on it. It is going to take time but the commitment is there, the momentum is there and I am confident they are going to get there.'
