MARGAO: Margao Hospicio hospital, on Wednesday afternoon, witnessed a high drama in its premises after a 25-year-old youth from Pajifond along with others marched to the public relations officer (PRO) of the hospital and allegedly assaulted him, while on duty, on the ground that mother of the youth admitted in the hospital was allegedly not given proper medical treatment.
Police said the youth’s grudge was that his mother was not getting proper treatment and that he also allegedly did not get proper answers from the hospital authorities.
Fatorda police have registered two separate offences in this regard following cross complaints.
According to Fatorda police, the incident took place at around 2 p.m when Amin John, whose mother has been admitted in the hospital, approached the medical superintendent over alleged improper medical care, who then directed him to public relations officer.
He met the public relations officer and requested him for proper treatment; however, the police said, an argument broke out leading to the alleged assault on the PRO. Police said that Amin was joined in by his friends.
The police further said that the PRO was allegedly disrobed and a laptop was also damaged. Police said that since the hospital property was damaged, a case under PDPP Act has been registered.
However, in a counter complaint, Amin has alleged that he was assaulted by public relations officer Sarfaraz Shaik and that he also abused him.
PSI Devendra Pingle rushed to the site after the incident and conducted panchanama. Further investigation is underway.
