Three people fight for life after stabbings in Gippsland

Three people are fighting for life after being stabbed in Gippsland in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Mystery surrounds the violent stabbing, which resulted in all three people involved suffering injuries.

What is known, according to Ambulance Victoria, is that three people were flown from Gippsland to Melbourne for treatment after a stabbing, one of whom was tasered by police.

Police Victoria say they are investigating the violence which took place in Morwell.

Officers believe "an altercation" occurred between two men and a woman at a house on McDonald Street about 3.30am.

A 54-year-old man and a 57-year-old woman were flown to Melbourne with life-threatening injuries, a police statement said.

A 54-year-old man was tasered by police and also flown to hospital. Police said he was suffering non-life threatening injuries.

An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said paramedics were called to the scene just after 3.40am.

She said the two people flown to the Alfred Hospital were in a critical condition.

The third person flown to the Royal Melbourne Hospital was also in a critical condition, according to Ambulance Victoria.
