Speaker, Minister assure members to look into issue

BJP member G. Kishan Reddy has expressed concern over the failure of the authorities concerned to provide members with the replies given by the government for their Zero Hour mentions.

Lodging a complaint with Assembly Speaker S. Madhusudanachary during the Zero Hour in the Assembly on Wednesday, the BJP member wanted the Chair to take steps to ensure that replies of the government reached members within 15 days. “The Speaker should give a ruling to this effect,” he said.

Legislative Affairs Minister T. Harish Rao said the replies were being sent to members promptly. But he assured that the matter would be reviewed with the officials concerned and necessary steps would be taken to address the grievance. The Speaker too informed Mr. Kishan Reddy that he reviewed the situation with the Chief Secretary recently and steps would be initiated to ensure that gaps, if any, in the communication were bridged.

Baby care centres

Health Minister C. Lakshma Reddy has announced that the department was setting up 12 special newborn baby care units across the State during the financial year 2018-19. These units would be set up at area hospitals in Zaheerabad, Jagtial, Nirmal, Mancherial, MGM Warangal, Asifabad, Gadwal, Suryapet, Wanaparthy, Hothagudem, Jangaon and Medak. Replying to a question that came up during the Question Hour in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday, he said there were 23 special newborn baby care units, 57 newborn baby sterilisation units, 562 newborn baby care corners and 22 Kangaroo mother care units functioning at present. A comprehensive lactation management centre was set up at Niloufer Hospital while work on the lactation management units sanctioned for Warangal and Nalgonda were yet to be started.

The Minister said action had been initiated to ensure full immunisation and three vaccines BCG, Hep-B and OPV were being given immediately after birth.
