State had an option to withdraw

BJP Kisan Morcha national general secretary P. Sugunakar Rao came down heavily on the TRS government for blaming the Centre over continuation of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) for State government employees.

Talking to newsmen here on Tuesday, he said the UPA government had introduced the pension scheme and the then Congress government led by Y.S. Rajashekhara Reddy had implemented it in the state. Though there was an option for the State government to give up the new pension scheme like West Bengal and Tripura did, TRS government implemented it, he stated. Following pressure from employees, the government “unnecessarily blamed the Centre for continuing CPS,” he charged. He urged the employees “not to believe Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao” as he had reportedly cheated them by continuing the CPS.

Holding the government responsible for the withering away of standing crops he demanded a white paper on ayacut of all existing irrigation projects. The government should pay compensation of ₹20,000 per acre to farmers who lost crops due to non-release of water from the various projects, he said.

Quoting reports about the BT-3 cotton seeds have entered into the market and cheating the farming community, he demanded that the government should ban the BT-3 seeds as they pose threat to environment as well as the farmers health. He urged the government to constitute a task force team to check the sale and supply of spurious BT-3 seeds in the state. BJP leader K Odelu and others were also present.
