CM asks police to take stern action

The West Bengal government will not allow participants to carry arms in the Ram Navami rallies expected to take place on Sunday.

Addressing a meeting of police officers in East Bardhaman district, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said:“Howsoever small an incident may be, do not neglect it. Do ensure that no communal incident takes place. If any incident is reported, take stern action immediately.”

Following armed rallies during and after Ram Navami in 2017, violence was reported in parts of the State.
