Silver prices rise marginally in futures trade

Press Trust of India  |  New Delhi

Silver prices rose Rs 81 to Rs 38,297 per kg in futures trade today as speculators built up positions amid a firm global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in May was trading higher by Rs 81, or 0.21 per cent, at Rs 38,297 per kg in a business turnover of 556 lots.

Also, the for delivery in July was up Rs 69, or 0.18 per cent, at Rs 38,809 per kg in five lots.

Analysts said the rise in prices was mostly attributed to building up of fresh positions by speculators, tracking a firm trend overseas as a softer dollar raised demand for the precious metals as a safe haven.

Meanwhile, silver rose 0.34 per cent to USD 16.22 an ounce in today.
