Firefighters tackling scrap pile blaze at Burlington metal recycling facility
Police have closed Harvester Road at South Service Road and Fraser Drive.
File PhotoBurlington firefighters are on the scene of a fire at recycling facility on Harvester Road, west of Appleby Line.
Just after three this afternoon, fire crews were called to Mainstream Metals after a large pile of recyclables caught fire.
Halton regional police said on Twitter that the fire initially started with a vehicle inside the plant, and then caught on to a scrap pile.
The flames and billowing smoke are causing a visual distraction for motorists in the area — including commuters on the QEW.
Police have closed Harvester Road at South Service Road and Fraser Drive.
No one has been hurt.
