The S.M. Krishna Layout, developed by Hassan Urban Development Authority (HUDA), will be inaugurated in Hassan on Thursday. The layout, developed on 453 acres in the outskirts of the city, will be inaugurated by Minister for Sericulture and district in-charge A. Manju.
At a press conference here on Tuesday, H.R. Krishna Kumar, chairman, HUDA, said the layout was developed with an understanding with landowners. The farmers, who parted with their land for it, have got back developed land in return. “We have developed 6,335 sites in the layout. Of them 2,459 have been distributed to the public and 2,645 to the landowners,” he said.
The layout was initially planned when S.M. Krishna was Chief Minister of the State. The project met with many hurdles as landowners raised objections to the compensation offered by the authority.
