Ant McPartlin crash news: Scarlett Moffatt hits out at paparazzi after co-star’s arrest

Scarlett appeared on the ITV show with Ant and Dec just hours before the Geordie presenter was arrested on Sunday afternoon.

Ant, 42, was involved in a car crash and it is believed he was taken away by police after failing a breathalyser.

His co-star, Scarlett, has since blasted paparazzi for attempting to take pictures of her at her home.

According to Hello!, the former Gogglebox star revealed in a now-deleted Tweet that three photographers were parked outside her home, taking pictures of her through her window.

As she complained about them, one of her 651,000 Twitter followers wasn’t so sympathetic and responded: “Shut yer blinds or curtains then?”(sic)

The message appeared to infuriate Scarlett who said her home should be her “safe place”.

She replied: “I don't have blinds on my doors and why should I sit with all my curtains closed for the rest of my life!! Home is meant to be your safe place!"

Yesterday, a statement was released by Ant’s publicist confirming he has asked for time off for the “foreseeable future” to seek treatment.

ITV also revealed this weekend’s episode of Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway has been cancelled.

The statement read: "ITV has taken a joint decision with Ant and Dec’s team not to broadcast Saturday Night Takeaway this weekend.”

“We will be reviewing options for the last two episodes of the series [March 31 and April 7], which would not feature Ant who is taking time off to seek treatment. We very much hope that he gets the help that he needs.”

Following the news, Declan Donnelly was said to be “devastated” after his best friend confirmed he will be returning to rehab.

He was pictured looking glum when he stepped out for a walk in Chiswick, London with his wife Ali Astall.

It is unknown whether Dec, 42, will host the last two episodes of Saturday Night Takeaway on his own after this weekend’s was cancelled.

Some fans have started to call for Scarlett to replace Ant and co-host the show with Dec.

One person wrote on Twitter: “Now Ant’s been arrested, I’m here for Scarlett and Dec with Scarlett Moffatt taking over from Ant on #SaturdayNightTakeaway, #BGT and #ImACeleb.”

“Please let Dec continue with the help of Stephen and Scarlett. They’ll wing it, while Ant gets the help he needs. He can beat it, he just needs time,” said another fan.

A third social media user commented: “Scarlett and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, anyone?”
