The body of former Archmere Academy student, Mark Dombroski, was not bound when found Monday in Bermuda, according to island territory police.

"Contrary to recent speculative social media posts, Mark's body was not bound or tied up," Bermuda Police Service Superintendent Sean Field-Lament said in a statement. "We await the forensic pathologist's independent official report."

An overseas forensic pathologist will be in Bermuda on Wednesday to conduct an autopsy.

Field-Lament's statement, which was released Tuesday, also made a point to say that Dombroski's cellphone and wallet were found with him. He added that the 19-year-old's body was found at the "base of a significant drop at Fort Prospect."

The statement also updates the last time Dombroski was seen to 1:30 a.m. Sunday on Alexandra Road which is near the colonial-era fort and police headquarters.

About 90 minutes earlier, Dombroski was seen leaving the Dog House bar – more than a mile west of the fort.

He "was not sober, but he was not intoxicated," Frank Arnold, owner of the Dog House bar said, according to the Associated Press. The drinking age in Bermuda is 18.

Arnold said Dombroski's parents had been to the bar on Sunday to look through hours of closed-circuit television footage.

A cause of death has not been released and forensic experts were still processing the scene where his body was found, police said.

Dombroski was a member of the rugby team at St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia and was in Bermuda to compete in a tournament.

About an hour after Dombroski was last seen at the bar, he was spotted alone walking east on Middle Road near Shelton Road, police said.

Meanwhile in Delaware and Pennsylvania, memorial services have been held and condolences have been circulating online since news that former Archmere student's body was found.

Students and faculty at Archmere, the private Claymont Roman Catholic school Dombroski graduated from last spring, gathered in prayer Monday afternoon and again for a Memorial Mass Tuesday morning.

"It is with great sadness that we inform you of the loss of a dear friend and recent graduate, Mark Dombroski '17," according to Archmere's website. "Mark died while on a rugby tour in Bermuda with St. Joseph’s University. We extend our deepest sympathies to the Dombroski family along with Mark’s friends and classmates.

"The circumstances of Mark's death are still under investigation by the authorities."

Andrew Cocco, Archmere's director of admissions and Dombroski's rugby coach, said the young man was "unfailingly kind."

"To know Mark was to love him," Cocco said in a statement. "He was unfailingly kind and always present to those around him. He was unapologetically himself on the field and in the classroom.

"Mark was the first to crack a joke or break into his signature smile and thumbs-up, but he was also always the first to set a positive example when it was time to get serious and work hard. Universally charismatic and blessed with an abundance of talent, Mark was truly inspiring to all who were lucky enough to know him."
