In a rare instance, a case was registered against a Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) constable after he arrived drunk for parade and later threatened to shoot his platoon commander in Haridwar district.
Taking serious note of the incident, the constable was made to undergo a medical test in the local hospital after which a cause under section 506 of IPC was lodged against him in the Manglaur police station.
Platoon commander of PAC 40th battalion, Praveen Kumar was conducting parade in the morning when he noticed that constable Akhtar Ansari was unable to stand straight. Kumar told the head constable to take the constable for a medical test which angered Ansari who allegedly misbehaved with Kumar and threatened to shoot him. Inspector Girish Chandra Sharma said that a complaint was received from platoon commander after which a case was registered against the constable.
