The fourth edition of National Rural Technologies Festival, Antahpragnya-2018, said to be Telangana’s biggest such event, began at Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies near Basar in Nirmal district on Tuesday. On display were about 200 prototypes and working models created by about 4,000 students from RGUKT who hail from rural background.
Inaugurating the three-day event, Nirmal Collector M. Prashanthi floated the idea of having an Uber-like tractor service in the field of agriculture. She said as many farmers were poor, they cannot afford to purchase a tractor to till their land. “Such farmers can benefit from the Uber-like service by hiring tractors at cheaper rates,” the Collector explained. She promised to talk with the Uber management to explore the possibility of the latter entering the proposed area.
Professor V. Chandrashekhar, Centre Director of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, was all praise for educational institutions like RGUKT. He said the future of education in the country lies in such institutions.
K. Balasubramanian, Director of Non-ferrous Materials Technology Development Centre, observed that science was knowledge creation and technology was knowledge integration. Knowledge enhances the personality of an individual, he added.
