Hazel Roberts Reichard, 93, of Madison Heights, widow of William T. Reichard, Jr., passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018. She was born in Amherst County on December 4, 1924, to the late Arthur H. Roberts and Bessie R. Roberts. In addition to her parents, and her husband, Bill she was preceded in death by a daughter in law, Peggy Reichard; brothers, Joseph Roberts, William Roberts, Arthur Roberts, and Melvin Roberts; and sisters, Myrtle Burch and Alma Steuart. Hazel was a lifelong member of Sandy Bottom Christian Church where she sang in the church choir. She also performed with the Ageless Wonders. She loved bowling, water activities with her family, and cooking for them. She is survived by three sons, Thomas Reichard, Glenn Reichard and wife, Linda, and David Reichard and wife, Deborah; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey Reichard and wife, Caroline, Mark Reichard and wife, Molly, Melanie Bennett and husband, Roger, Michele Riddle and husband, Keith, Melissa Shaffer and husband, Christopher, Stephanie Deering and husband, Daniel, and Chris Reichard and wife, Allicia; a sister, Janice Viar and husband, Robert; as well as 12 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 23, 2018, at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Reverend Jim Freeman presiding. Burial will follow at Meade Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2018, at the funeral home.
