14 arrested on charge of power theft

RAUTAHAT: Police have arrested 14 persons on charge of power theft in Rautahat district today.

The Gaur Distribution Centre of Nepal Electricity Authority, under its electricity leakage control campaign, arrested them for power hooking in various places of the district.

Binda Prasad Yadav, Khushi Akhtar, Ruplal Kalvar, Harishanker Chaudhary, Mohammed Feroz, Abdul Kalam, Samsuel Haq, Shivachandra Sah Kanu, Chulhai Mahato, Ramshrestha Rai Yadav, Nijamuddin, Rajesh Yadav, Samindar Yadav, and Ramlal Yadav were taken under control for supplying the electricity illegally, informed the Gaur NEA Chief Umesh Yadav.

Those arrested in the act will have to pay a fine of Rs 9,000 to Rs 50,000 cash.

He further informed that the power theft has come under control by 13 per cent in the past two weeks, after the launch of this campaign.
