Mapusa police have arrested a 40-year-old man for allegedly sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl who is student of Class V. The incident came to light after the minor girl approached NGO Child line.
According to Mapusa police, mother of victim girl lodged complaint against her neighbour identified as Pandurang Pednekar for allegedly sexually abusing her daughter since 2015 till March 13, 2018. Police informed that on Tuesday evening, the victim girl had called up the NGO Child line, narrated her ordeal and sought help.
The family of victim and the accused are neighbours and they have a common toilet. Police informed that when the girl used to go to toilet, the accused taking advantage of no family members in his house used to pull her into his house and then sexually abused her. After abusing the victim, the accused used to threaten her not to disclose anything about the incident to her family members.
Mapusa police have registered offence under Sections 363, 376, 506 of IPC, Section 8 of Goa Children’s Act and sections 4, 8, and 12 of POCSO Act.
