Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat inaugurated 190-metre double land bridge at Chauras, named after HN Bahuguna here on Monday. The double-lane bridge has been constructed at a cost of about Rs36.37 crore.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister also unveiled the foundation for constructing the second phase of two-kilometre stretch of road to Chauras to be built at a cost of Rs 9.41 crore.
The construction of this bridge and the road will help in conveyance between Srinagar and Chauras. After inaugurating the bridge, the Chief Minister inaugurated the e-digital slip and dashboard at the base hospital in Srinagar.
He said that from now the e-digital slip system will be operated in 30 hospitalsof the state under which the OPD registration system will be started. Rawat said that e-health centre is a major step towards making medical services accessible and cheap in the region.
After this, the CM also inaugurated the e-studio and telemedicine services at the Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali Government Ayurvedic research institution. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, he said that providing medical services in the remote areas is a priority for the State Government.
He said that it was the bitter truth that doctors are reluctant to provide their services in the mountainous regions even though doctors are paid very well in the State.
Meanwhile, better health facilities are being provided in 36 hospitals of the state through teleradiology and telemedicine with the government also working on upgrading the medical facilities. He said that the vision of the government was to provide health services every 10 kilometres in the State by 2020.
Earlier, while travelling towards Gairsain by road, the Chief Minister inspected work underway on the all-weather road project.
While inspecting various sensitive spots on the all weather road stretch from Rishikesh to Kirtinagar, Rawat directed the officials concerned to make effective arrangements for safety to prevent road accidents.
Expressing satisfaction at the work on the all-weather road project, the Chief Minister said the completion of this project will make pilgrimage convenient and also increase the number of tourists thereby generating more employment opportunities and facilitating business based on local products.
He recalled that under the Bharatmala project ,Rs13,000 crore will be spent on constructing road network to provide link to the border regions in the State.
This will make travelling convenient for the people living in the border regions and the army men posted in such areas, he added.
