The opposition members were behind the abduction of a school boy from the state capital yesterday to defame the government, Uttar Pradesh minister Brijesh Pathak today alleged in the state assembly.
"When the government was celebrating its completion of one year, a student of Lamartinere College was kidnapped by his driver Santosh Yadav yesterday. When the police surrounded a village to get the student released, it was found that it was conspiracy of the opposition parties to defame the government," Pathak said.
When opposition members said that the allegations were serious and needed a discussion, Speaker Hriday Narain Dixit downplayed the matter saying, "opposition members cannot indulge in such activity."
Earlier, as soon as the House met for the day, Leader of Opposition Ram Govind Chowdhury mentioned a number of murders in Allahabad yesterday and demanded immediate discussion on the issue saying that the spate of murders has left the people living in fear there.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna said he had no details on the matter and promised to apprise the House of the issue after getting the requisite information.
