While Union Minister Nitin Gadkari stated that there will be no change in leadership of the coalition government in the state in view of the ill-health of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, the senior BJP leader did carry out a political exercise on Tuesday to keep all coalition partners intact by meeting them individually.
Gadkari held separate meetings with leaders of Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), Goa Forward party (GFP), independent legislators and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLA in the city hotel and listened to their views.
First he met NCP MLA Churchill Alemao followed by senior MGP leaders including PWD Minister Ramakrishna Dhavalikar, party’s president Pandurang Dhavalikar, Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar and legislator Deepak Pauskar.
Gadkari also held discussions with GFP chief and Agriculture minister Vijai Sardesai and the party’s treasurer Suraj Lotlikar.
Later, he met Independent legislators including Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte, Tribal Welfare Minister Govind Gaude and Sanguem MLA Prasad Gaonkar and held one-to-one discussion with them. Sources informed that the Union Minister listened to their views on mining crisis and other issues.
