Jim Carrey's New Painting Targets Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg
Jim Carrey’s garish cartoons and paintings aren’t just limited to President Donald Trump and members of his administration. CEOs of billion-dollar companies like Facebook are subject to Carrey’s artistic mockery too.
The 56-year-old actor-turned-painter released his latest work on Tuesday, a dark-shaded cartoon of Facebook creator, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg. It features Zuckerberg’s infamous 2004 quote: “They trust me, dumb fucks!” Alongside the sketch of 33-year-old Zuckerberg’s face is a drawing of Facebook’s “dislike” icon, which is a thumbs down symbol.
Carrey captioned the cartoon: “Who are you sharing your life with? #regulatefacebook.”
Carrey’s new drawing is apparently a response to Facebook’s latest flub. On Sunday, it was discovered the social media network secretly shared information of 50 million users with political research firm Cambridge Analytica, a company that worked for Trump during his presidential campaign.
The incident has sparked a nation-wide debate on the improper handling of user data by Facebook and perhaps an even bigger discussion on how much access Facebook should have to users’ personal information. Some have even called for Zuckerberg to step down from his position with Facebook due to his “horrible” handling of the alleged data misuse.

Considering the temperament surrounding Facebook currently, reactions to Carrey’s cartoon of Zuckerberg on Tuesday were a lot less unforgiving than the response he got from his 17.8 million Twitter followers earlier in the week when he posted paintings of a few famous right-wingers.
On Saturday, Carrey shared a portrait of a woman many believed to be White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, although Carrey pegged the photo to be of a “so-called Christian whose only purpose in life is to lie for the wicked.”
Then, on Monday, Carrey released another artwork, this time of a green-faced Trump, whom the comedian referred to as, “THE WICKED WITCH OF THE WEST AND PUTIN’S FLYING MONKEYS.”
Those particular paintings sparked immediate outrage in the Twittersphere, with some users calling the portraits “disgraceful.” Others questioned Carrey’s mental state.
