On Monday evening, Rathindranath called his brother and told him that his wife has passed away.
His brother came to his house and after some time, he went back to inform other relatives about the tragedy.
When he returned to Rabindranath's house, he found his brother's body lying in a pool of blood. Rabindranath's throat was slit with a sharp-edged object.
The police have sent the bodies for post-mortem and further investigation is on.
According to Rabindranath's neighbours, the couple had two children - a son and a daughter. Their son, an engineer, works in Gurugram while their married daughter lives in Kolkata. Both of the children did not come to see their parents.
It is suspected that Rabindranath might have killed his bed-ridden wife first before committing suicide as the couple was living in a state of distress.
