As the fourth northeaster of March bears down on southeastern Massachusetts, the National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning from 8 a.m. Wednesday to 8 a.m. Thursday for Norfolk, Plymouth and northern Bristol counties for Wednesday.

The forecast calls for 10 to 14 inches of snow, beginning Wednesday morning. Driving is likely to be difficult all day.

A high wind watch is in place for the coast, with gusts expected to reach 50 to 60 mph in the afternoon and evening.

The rest of southeastern Massachusetts is under a winter storm watch. The storm may begin as rain before changing over to snow, holding accumulations down near the coast.

The storm will add to already-impressive snow totals for the month (40 inches, 32 inches more than normal) and season (85 inches, 30 inches more than normal).
