COLONIE — Locals flocked to Kurver Kreme on Monday to enjoy their first ice cream of the season during the shop's opening day.

This is the 66th year of operation for the ice cream stand. It will also be Kurver's second year serving a vegan frozen treat.

Owner Cheryl Apple was on site Monday, preparing cones for customers. Her parents bought the stand in 1980, years after the couple met while working there.

The stand will be open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from noon to 9 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
