Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho SLAMMED over Luke Shaw: ‘He could ruin his career’
JOSE MOURINHO could be ruining Luke Shaw’s career with his harsh treatment at Manchester United.
That’s the view of former Premier League footballer Joey Barton.
Luke Shaw’s time at Old Trafford looks all but over after the defender was hauled off at half-time during United’s 2-0 FA Cup win over Brighton at the weekend.
Mourinho publicly criticised his display - not for the first time this season - insisting he wasn’t impressed with his efforts.
Reports suggest the pair were also involved in a training ground bust-up before the match and Barton says it’s clear for all to see how Mourinho really feels about the former Southampton star.
“Mourinho kept looking at Luke Shaw like he’s something he’s just stood on while out walking his dog,” Barton said on talkSPORT.

“He wasn’t a Mourinho signing was he, he’s given him game time but Shaw is clearly devoid of confidence and is not reaching his potential either due to injuries and a lack of belief from those around him.
“He just doesn’t fancy him – that’s the reality of it.
“You can ruin a young boy’s career, he was a promising young talent.

“Look, at Man United if you don’t perform at the highest level when you’re given the opportunity, they generally go out and buy the best available. That’s what they’ve historically done and I expect them to do the same again.”
With a move away from Old Trafford looking likely at the end of the season, Barton still believes Shaw has plenty to give at another club.

He added: “I still think Luke Shaw would be a good player wherever he goes, but there will be a psychological rebuilding process for him.
“There’s no way you can go through what he’s going through now at Man United and not come out a little bit mixed up.”
Shaw is out of contract with United at the end of the season.
